This petition asks Hartford insurance companies to stop funding fossil fuel projects (e.g., gas pipeline installation in the Gulf South, building new coal plants, etc.) that are setting us up for decades of additional CO2 emissions. These projects will worsen climate change, threaten public health, and harm indigenous communities.
The good news is, as students our voices have a lot of power. Insurance companies are having trouble recruiting new hires from our age group as it is, and so they are highly motivated to appeal to us as a generation. This gives us a unique chance to influence their decisions by expressing our disapproval of what they’re doing.
