Livestream of the Solar Eclipse Today at 3 p.m.

As you’re reading this, a team of 3 faculty and 13 students, who spread across seven majors (6 CETA and 1 A&S), are in Carbondale, Illinois, getting ready to launch high altitude balloons to study the total solar eclipse.

Staying at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, they are joined with students from Tunxis Community College. They will be launching two balloons. One from 40-50 miles west of Carbondale, which will end up right over Carbondale during the eclipse. A student payload will also launch from the Southern Illinois University football field.

CETA thanks the NASA CT Space Grant Consortium for helping provide our students with these experiential learning opportunities.
