Celebrating the 2026 Inspire Future Transportation & Civil Engineers Summer Camp Graduates

After an inspiring week of learning, discovery, and innovation, the 2026 Inspire Future Transportation & Civil Engineers Summer Camp concluded with a Graduation Ceremony on Friday, July 10, 2026, at the Makerspace of University of Hartford.

Camp Directors Clara Fang, and Song Wang welcomed campers, families, faculty, and distinguished guests as they gathered to celebrate the accomplishments of this year's participants. Throughout the week, campers embraced new challenges, explored the field of transportation and civil engineering, and developed lasting friendships while gaining valuable hands-on experience.

We were honored to welcome Garrett Eucalitto, Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CT DOT), who delivered an inspiring keynote address encouraging students to pursue their passions, embrace innovation, and become the next generation of leaders shaping our transportation infrastructure.

Our sincere appreciation also goes to our distinguished guest speakers:

Hisham Alnajjar, Dean of the College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture (CETA) at the University of Hartford, for his encouraging remarks and continued support of engineering education.

Joseph Balskus, Director of Transportation Systems at VHB, for sharing valuable industry insights and inspiring campers to explore the many opportunities within the transportation profession.

The ceremony concluded with Camp Directors Clara Fang, and Song Wang presenting each camper with a certificate in recognition of their dedication, enthusiasm, and achievements throughout an unforgettable week of learning and hands-on engineering experiences. Commissioner Garrett Eucalitto and Dean Hisham Alnajjarjoined the presentation to personally congratulate each camper, making the occasion even more memorable as they celebrated the accomplishments of our future transportation and civil engineers.

This summer camp was made possible through the generous support of the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CT DOT) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), whose continued investment in STEM education and workforce development is helping inspire the next generation of transportation and civil engineering professionals.

Congratulations to all of our campers! Your curiosity, creativity, and passion for learning made this camp a tremendous success. We look forward to seeing the impact you will make as tomorrow's engineers, innovators, and leaders.

Stay tuned for a look back at some of the exciting hands-on activities, laboratory experiences, and field trips that made this year's camp such an incredible experience!
