December 2020 Ceremony

Commencement 2020 will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 15, at noon, at downtown Hartford's XL Center.

Looking Ahead to 2021

Commencement 2021 will take place on Saturday, May 15, at 11 a.m. (XL Center, downtown Hartford)

This one ceremony will bring together those who would have been recognized in May 2020 with our graduates eligible for our December 2020 Commencement.

Please look for continuous updates on this page and UNotes leading up to Commencement Day

The Ceremony

One single ceremony for undergraduate and graduate degree recipients, expected to last approximately three hours, will be held. Having one ceremony allows students to celebrate their friends’ accomplishments, as graduates from all of UHart's schools and colleges will have their names called individually and cross the Commencement stage. The Jumbotron will also highlight each graduate for friends and family!

Are you a doctoral student?

The Doctoral Hooding Ceremony will be Sunday, Dec. 6, at 10:30 a.m. in Lincoln Theater

Livestream AND ON-DEMAND VIEWING

For graduates, family, and friends unable to attend in person, we still want you to be a part of the celebration. We will be streaming the ceremony live that day and then offering it for on-demand viewing at your convenience in subsequent months. Most importantly, we will be reading the names of all eligible graduates, not just those who are in attendance that day.
