Barney School of Business

3+1 Accelerated Business Program

Our 3+1 Accelerated Business Program puts you in a position to start your career sooner. Earn an undergraduate degree and your MBA in just four years!

About the Program

Choose from one of our seven undergraduate majors and complete the coursework for a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in just three years. Take an accelerated schedule that includes Summer and Winter term courses. Then, move immediately into the full-time MBA or MS in Accounting and Taxation.

You will be part of a learning community with other students in the 3+1 Accelerated Business Program, and you'll have a dedicated advisor to support you throughout the completion of your degrees.

We are looking for bright, career-oriented, and high-achieving students. Students participating in our accelerated programs are typically in the top 25% of their high school graduating class, and have scored a minimum combined score of 1200 on the SAT.

Apply to the Barney School of Business by visiting or through the Common Application. Your application will automatically be reviewed for consideration into the 3+1 Accelerated Business Program.

Annual undergraduate tuition is applied for all four years. This also allows financial aid and scholarships to be applied across the entire year, not just the fall/spring semesters.

The University of Hartford will annually award one full-tuition scholarship to a 3+1 Accelerated Business Program qualified University Barney School of Business incoming freshman. This award will be renewable for the four years of the student’s program (the completion of both the undergraduate BSBA and the advanced graduate degree).

To be considered for this scholarship opportunity the student must be admitted into the 3+1 program offered by the Barney School of Business.

Admitted students will be considered for the Barney School F.I.R.M. Scholarships, which are offered every year based on the 3+1 Accelerated Business Program students’ financial needs and academic performance.

To apply for this scholarship, interested students must complete an application for admission to the University, as well as submit the 3+1 Scholarship Application.

NOTE: students who were invited and attend the two scholarship days do NOT have to complete the application – their interview/essay is considered the equivalent to the application.

The application deadline for this scholarship is March 15.
