Need Help While You're on Campus?

Our staff will be available throughout the day at the Gengras Student Union should you need anything throughout the day!

Everything you need to know about your Open House experience. 

Check-in begins at 9:30 a.m. ET at the Gengras Student Union. We encourage you to look at the list of programming and arrive based on what offerings you are interested in. There is no specific time you need to arrive, but please note that check-in closes at 11:30 a.m. ET.

Additional details regarding parking, check-in, and more will be shared via email in the days prior to the event. If you have any questions in the meantime, please email admission@hartford.edu.

Experience UHart in a way that works for you—we've designed our events to be a true open house where you can pick and choose which offerings work for you. We have highlighted for you below the different offerings available throughout the day. 

Event Overview

Check-In (9:30-11:30 a.m.)—Located at the Gengras Student Union
Attendees can arrive any time after 9:30 a.m.. We encourage attendees to look at the schedule at offerings and arrive earlier or later depending upon which activities you wish to participate in. Check-in is open until 11:30 a.m.

Campus Tours (9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.)
Campus Tours are available throughout the day. You will have the opportunity to tour key spaces like the residence halls, the Gengras Student Union and the library. Tours will depart from the Gengras Student Union

Resource Fair (9:30 a.m.-noon)
Departments are spread out throughout the academic side of campus. Meet representatives from: Athletics, Career & Professional Development, Center for Student Success, Campus Dining, Graduate Admission, Health & Wellness (Access-Ability Services, Counseling and Psychological Services, etc.), Honors, Jewish Student Life, Public Safety, Residential Life, Student Engagement & Inclusion, Study Abroad, Women’s Advancement, and more.

College Programming (10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.)
Our seven schools and colleges will have a variety of programming available throughout this time. 

Additional Offerings
There will be light food and refreshments available throughout the program. 

  • Tour the Hursey Center, our newest academic building
  • Our Campus Store will be open from 10 a.m.- 3p.m. 
  • Starbucks will be open from 9:30 a.m. - 9 p.m.

Bonus Sessions
We will also have a variety of bonus sessions where you can learn more about the Admission and Financial Aid process and programs at the University of Hartford. Please see below for a schedule of sessions.

  • 9:15 a.m., 9:45 a.m., 10:30 a.m. & 11:30 a.m.—Admission & Financial Aid:  GSU South Cafe
  • 9:50 a.m.—Athletics: GSU 203
  • 10:15 a.m.Center for Student Success: GSU 230
  • 10:45 a.m.—Honors Program: GSU 203

Explore and learn more about our seven schools and colleges! Hartford Art School and The Hartt School offer slightly different programming on each date—please see below for more detailed information.

Learn more about the College of Arts and Sciences at the following events:

  • 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.— A&S Hub: Meet faculty and current students representing the Humanities, Sciences, and Social Sciences. Learn more about the different majors and student experience at A&S. 
  • 11:00 a.m. & 12:30 p.m.—Science Tours: Explore the lab spaces for our science programs.
  • 11:00 a.m. & 12:30 p.m.—Communication Tours: Explore our School of Communication spaces including our podcast studio, TV studio, and more.

Learn more about the Barney School of Business at the following event:

  • 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.—Barney Hub: Meet faculty and current students of the Barney School of Business. See our new spaces in Auerbach Auditorium, including the trading and analytics lab. Learn more about the different majors, the clubs and organizations within the college, and our Career Ready focus.
  • 11 a.m. & 12:30 p.m.—Welcome from the Dean

Learn more about the College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture at the following events:

  • 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.—CETA Hub: Meet current student ambassadors representing the different majors and departments. Learn more about our majors and check out the facilities for our different programs. Faculty will also be present from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m..
  • 10:30 a.m. & 1:30 p.m.—Hursey Center Tours: Explore our newest academic building!
  • 11:00 a.m. & 12:30 p.m.—College Presentation: Dean Alnajjar will provide and welcome and overview of the college, accompanied by CETA ambassadors.

  • 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.—ENHP Hub: Meet faculty and current student ambassadors representing the different majors. Learn more about our majors and check out the labs and facilities for our different programs.
  • 10:30 a.m. & 1:30 p.m.—Hursey Center Tours: Explore our newest academic building!
  • 11 a.m. & 12:30 p.m.—Welcome from the Dean: Dean Thompson will be doing brief welcome remarks.

Please note that programming differs for each open house date. Students interested in the Hartford Art School should plan to arrive by 10 a.m. to participate in the available programming.

November 6
  • 10:30 a.m. – Photography demonstration
  • 11:30 a.m. – Tour of Komatsu Hiroko: Second Decade, from Joseloff Gallery Director and Illustration Faculty Presentation
  • 12:30 p.m. – Hartford Art School tour

November 6: Early Action Auditions

Get a jump start into the audition season! Students who apply Early Action to The University of Hartford by November 1, 2022 will have the opportunity to sign up for an Early Action Audition! In addition, students will have the opportunity to tour our buildings, mingle with current students and spend time with the faculty they hope to study with when they get to Hartt!

Special Programming:

  • 10:30 a.m.—Welcome to Hartt: Join us for a welcome program for all students interested in The Hartt School.  Learn more about the Hartt Difference and see our students in action. 
  • Auditions: Auditions are pre-scheduled through your application.

Tour Opportunities:

  • 10:30 a.m. & 1 p.m.—Fuller Music Center Tours: Explore the Fuller Music Center, see our performance spaces, practice rooms and rehearsal hall. This is a great opportunity to ask questions about the Hartt Experience. 
  • 11 a.m.-1 p.m.—Hartt Recording Studio Tour: Explore our Hartt Recording Studio and meet a current Music Production and Technology student. 
  • Noon & 2 p.m.—Handel Performing Arts Center Tours: Visit The Handel Performing Arts Center (HPAC), home of our Dance and Theatre programs.  While over there, get a tour of the rehearsal and performance spaces and meet current students. A shuttle is NOT provided on this date. We recommend you visit HPAC after you've completed your activities and leave campus.
