A leadership training program for students entering grades 10 through 12
At SPLIT, we learn by doing. Campers attend workshops on management and leadership skills, team building, and self-discovery. SPLIT participants also gain hands-on experience working with Summer Place, Li’l Place, and Kinderplace campers.
Program Structure and Session Focus
Each SPLIT session runs for two weeks. Sessions are built around a rotating curriculum, and campers leave the program with a stronger sense of responsibility, a solid work ethic, and greater confidence in their leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
Session Themes
-
Session 1: Leadership and character development
-
Session 2: Community service, including a SPLIT food drive benefiting the West Hartford Food Pantry
-
Session 3: Job application and interview strategies, with guest speakers from a wide range of professional fields
While all core topics are reinforced throughout the summer, each session places greater emphasis on its featured theme.
