Olivia Soliman, MRSC, CSci, CChem, PhD is an Assistant Professor of Analytical Chemistry in the College of Arts and Sciences. She earned her PhD in pharmaceutical Analytical Chemistry from Cairo University in Egypt and traveled to Ireland to obtain her postdoc training in Polymer Chemistry and Engineering. Prof. Soliman’s research work is focused on the application of green chemistry in chemical recycling of plastic waste and tackling the SDG 12 of sustainable production and consumption. Prof. Soliman has led the chemical recycling of plastic waste research in an EU-China flagship H2020 project entitled “Bio Innovation of a Circular Economy for Plastic”. She has been leading a sustainable environmentally oriented research track since 2010. She is committed to the development of tailored green technologies designed to mitigate against environmental pollution and engineering new sustainable plastics of the future. Prof. Soliman teaches introductory Chemistry courses and advanced quantitative analysis and instrumentation courses.

Research Interests

Chemical recycling of plastic waste, synthesis of pharmaceutical formulations, design of polymeric nanocomposites for drug delivery and analyte extraction and development of analytical assays for drugs and different molecules of interest.
