Ashish Mahanta

Dr. Ashish Mahanta joins the College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture (CETA) as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He recently earned his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Southern Illinois University (SIU), Carbondale, IL, where he received the competitive Dissertation Research Assistantship (DRA) award for his impactful research work. His research pioneered new paradigms in hardware security and low-overhead power signature generation for resource-constrained IoT devices. He received his B.Sc. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET), Bangladesh, in 2017.

Dr. Mahanta’s scholarly work has been published in leading academic journals, including the IEEE Internet of Things Journal and the ACM Transactions on Embedded Computing Systems. Alongside his academic contributions, he brings valuable industry experience from TDK InvenSense Inc. in San Jose, CA, where he focused on mixed-signal behavioral modeling and verification for advanced sensor System-on-Chip (SoC) architectures.

At the University of Hartford, Dr. Mahanta is developing the Secure and Intelligent IoT & Embedded Systems Lab to advance autonomous, multi-modal hardware security frameworks for abnormality detection & operational integrity verification, edge AI/ML hardware acceleration, and ultra-low-power sensing architectures. A dedicated educator and mentor, he has an extensive track record of guiding student researchers through NSF-funded STEM initiatives and case-managing neurodiverse learners in higher education.
