David Kramer has been the music director of HCD’s Stringendo Chamber Orchestra since its inception in 2011. A native of Ohio, he holds music degrees in performance and education from the Eastman School of Music and the University of Connecticut. Kramer is currently the orchestra director at West Woods School in Farmington, Conn.

As a music educator Kramer has presented sessions at both the CMEA In-Service Conference and the NAFME Eastern Division Conference. He has also served as guest clinician and conductor for orchestra programs in Connecticut. As a cellist he has performed with a wide variety of artists ranging from Yo-Yo Ma and Joshua Bell to Tony Bennett and Chuck Mangione. He performs frequently with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra and has performed with the New Haven Symphony Orchestra. He also served as principal cellist of the National Orchestra Institute and the New York String Orchestra under Maestro Jamie Laredo. Kramer lives in West Hartford with his wife, violinist Virginia Kramer and their two children.
