Dr. Morgan Pope is a bassoonist and teacher located in the Hartford area. An experienced educator, Morgan maintains a private bassoon studio and is on the teaching faculty at the Hartt School Community Division, Wesleyan University, and the Community Music School of Springfield (MA). She also teaches reed-making and chamber music at the Juilliard Pre-College Division.
Morgan holds degrees in bassoon performance and music education from The Hartt School, New England Conservatory, and Middle Tennessee State University.
Teaching Philosophy
I provide individualized instruction tailored to each student’s needs, helping them grow into confident, capable musicians. I strive to create a welcoming lesson environment where students build confidence and problem-solving skills by trying new things, taking risks, and learning through both mistakes and successes. I believe that fundamental technique skills are the key to long-term success and the foundation of musical expression and use that belief to guide students in making connections between elements of practice and performance. Overall, my goal as a teacher is to instill in every student a lifelong appreciation and respect for music and music-making.
