Jessica Rizzio is an engaging lyric coloratura soprano and teacher, with an affinity for bel canto and romantic opera. Jessica has performed throughout New England, with the Boston Early Music Festival, Madison Lyric Stage, Opera Connecticut, Hartford Opera Theater, Greater Bridgeport Symphony, and Hartford Symphony Orchestra. When she’s not singing opera, Jessica greatly enjoys singing her favorite Disney and Broadway showtunes.
Jessica has been a featured soloist and section leader in music ministries for over 20 years. She has had the honor to sing at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City, the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston, where she performed in concert with acclaimed cellist Yo-Yo Ma for President Barack Obama, and the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Hartford. She has been a cantor at St. Thomas & St. Timothy Parish in West Hartford for over a decade.
Jessica is a graduate of New England Conservatory (BM) and The Hartt School (MM), with additional training throughout Italy and France. She currently resides in West Hartford with her family and teaches voice at The Hartt School Community Division and Summer Vocal Institute.
Teaching Philosophy
I believe that singing is for everyone, a joyful and expressive outlet. Music develops the whole person, mind, body, and soul. Through singing, we work on technique, repertoire, and musicianship, but also confidence, compassion, and creativity.
