Andy Wollner brings a wide range of knowledge to the Department of Visual Communication Design from his roots as a practicing fine art painter, industry experience as a print and web designer, and current research in digital UI/UX design for web and mobile applications.
He began his career as a painter, represented by Conner Contemporary Art, now Conner Smith, in Washington, D.C., from 1999–2005. Prior to coming to the Hartford Art School, Wollner taught drawing and printmaking at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and visual communication studies at the New Mexico Highlands University. He entered the graphic design industry in 2001, working at startups in Boston, Mass. He eventually started Wollner Design, an independent design consulting business that creates pieces for web and mobile apps, print collateral, and identity branding.
