Schauntice Marshall-Shepard, a native of Washington, D.C., has cultivated a rich musical background through her studies in Classical and Jazz genres. She holds multiple degrees in classical music and continues to explore Jazz and Contemporary singing. Her performances have taken her across France, England, Normandy, Germany, the West Indies, and the United States.
Known for her versatility in performing various styles and genres, Schauntice has been featured throughout the East Coast, including D.C., Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, and Connecticut. She earned her Bachelor of Music from Shenandoah Conservatory and a Graduate Professional Diploma in Vocal Music from the University of Hartford’s Hartt School of Music, graduating in May 2013.
Since then, she has established herself as a prominent performer in Connecticut, serving as the soprano soloist at Asylum Hill Congregational Church, a Vocal Section Leader with the Hartford Chorale, and a regular performer with the Berkshire Opera Festival since 2018. Recently, she debuted as the soprano soloist with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, with more exciting opportunities on the horizon. Schauntice is currently the Interim Music Director at Kingswood Oxford, and an Executive Director for the premiere singing organization Voce.
Schauntice’s operatic roles include Ahmal in Ahmal and the Night Visitors, Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, Zerlina in Don Giovanni, Baby Doe in The Ballad of Baby Doe, Yum-Yum in The Mikado, and Tituba in The Crucible. She frequently collaborates with choral groups in the area, adding depth and artistry to her musical endeavors.
Teaching Philosophy
My goal is to inspire students to develop confidence, curiosity, and a deeper love for singing. By focusing on technique and expression, students can explore and unlock abilities they never knew existed.
