BM, Music Education and Saxophone Performance, The Hartt School

Saxophonist Andrew Studenski is very excited to be back at Hartt Community Division! An alumnus of the Hartt School (BM, Music Education and Saxophone Performance), he had the chance to work firsthand with HCD's incredible faculty and students during his formative years as an educator and musician, and credits much of his strong foundation to these experiences.

Mr. Studenski has had the pleasure of teaching Flute, Clarinet and Saxophone to students of every level and background—from fresh beginners making first sounds all the way through serious collegiate and adult students finding their voice in the ever-evolving music world. He has served as an adjunct faculty member at The Hartt School as well as Bay Path University, worked as an elementary band director in the town of Glastonbury, and has spent time as a teaching artist in many public and private schools throughout the state of Connecticut. In addition to his job at Hartt, Mr. Studenski gladly serves as the band director for St. Paul Catholic School in Kensington, CT and as the co-director of the Noah Webster Jazzicians, a Bushnell-funded program that gives Hartford Public School students exposure to jazz and improvisation principles outside of their regular school day.

“A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one.” — and that is the embodiment of Mr. Studenski's philosophy as both an educator and a performer. Primarily a commercial woodwind player, Mr. Studenski performs regularly for the stage at such venues as The Goodspeed Opera House, The Bushnell, The Shubert Theater New Haven, and many others. When not working for musicals he has been seen and heard freelancing in orchestras such as the Hartford, New Haven, Bridgeport, and Ridgefield symphonies and in various big bands, salsa orquestas, and contemporary ensembles throughout New England and beyond. Mr. Studenski has recorded on saxophone and clarinet for many salsa, Latin jazz, and banda projects as well as for the LA-based contemporary ensemble "Bridge to Everywhere". Andrew is also a founding member of the Foundry Quartet and Greenline Clarinet Quartet. Each one of these experiences has helped to diversify his background, shape his teaching, and allow him to be able to offer his unique skill set to members of his saxophone studio.
