University of Hartford Launches Full Stack Web Development Certificate Bootcamp

Coding bootcamp

The University of Hartford is pleased to offer its first Coding Certificate Bootcamp in collaboration with Stack Education, a Boston-based education company that works with higher education institutions to create STEM-based, career-driven skills development programming.

Beginning on Feb. 20, the 20-week interactive course will meet three times each week in the evening from 6:30–9:30 p.m. (EST), with classes being held 100 percent online. Students accepted into the bootcamp program will be taught full stack coding fundamentals by experienced industry practitioners. These students will develop technical solutions on a project for a real company, gaining real work experience while receiving valuable feedback and mentorship along the way.

At the end of this course, graduates will have gained the skills to:

  • Understand why, not just how code works
  • Build and deploy full-stack web applications from start to finish
  • Code proficiently in JavaScript, Node.js, React.js, and more
  • Build RESTful APIs
  • Interact with databases, manipulating and returning information
  • Communicate effectively under pressure
  • Create innovative solutions on diverse teams
  • Understand the fundamentals of modern software development
  • Manage version control with Git & Github
  • Create test suites that help guarantee code quality
  • Debug code

This partnership underscores the University of Hartford’s commitment to combine technical skills with career preparation and experience. Stack’s educational philosophies are in alignment with the University of Hartford, providing students with a combination of practical skills in a specialized area, critical skills in oral communication and innovative thinking, and the opportunity to work on an industry project to be career ready upon completion of the program.

R.J. McGivney, Associate Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness and Continuing Education

Stack Education will implement future bootcamps for UHart, including Data Science and Analytics, and Clinical Trial Management.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with the University of Hartford on our first in a series of STEM skill-development programs,” says Peggy Yu, CEO of Stack Education. “Situated in the capital of Connecticut, this university serves as a pillar of learning for the community, and we are eager to help give adult learners the skills they need to change or supercharge their careers in the most in-demand industries.”
