AACSB Accreditation represents the highest standard of achievement for business schools worldwide.

AACSB International (AACSB) announced that the University of Hartford’s Barney School of Business earned a five-year extension of its business accreditation as a global leader in business education. AACSB Accreditation represents the highest standard of achievement for business schools worldwide. Less than five percent of the more than 16,000 schools worldwide granting business degrees have earned AACSB Accreditation.

"We are very pleased to receive a five-year extension of accreditation from AACSB,” says Barney School Dean Stephen Mulready. “This is an important and prestigious distinction that faculty, administration, and students value.”

Achieving accreditation is a process of rigorous internal focus, engagement with an AACSB-assigned mentor, and peer-reviewed evaluation. During this multi-year path, schools focus on developing and implementing a plan to align with AACSB’s accreditation standards. These standards require excellence in areas relating to strategic management and innovation; student, faculty, and staff as active participants; learning and teaching; and academic and professional engagement.

“AACSB congratulates each [accredited] institution on their achievement,” said Stephanie M. Bryant, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB. “Every AACSB-accredited school has demonstrated a focus on excellence in all areas, including teaching, research, curricula development, and student learning. The intense peer-review process exemplifies their commitment to quality business education.”
