Congratulations to Barney School of Business students Aliyah Abdullah ’22, Semra Boluk ’22, Nick Bosio ’21, and Yoanny Brito ’21 for making the Final 8 of the Spencer-RIMS Risk Management Challenge in 2021!
The Challenge is an eight-month long battle where international university teams compete to develop and present the most comprehensive risk management program based on a company's case study. By making the final eight, they will represent the University of Hartford’s Barney School of Business at RIMS Live 2021 in April. This is one of the largest Risk and Insurance events in the world and will be well attended by a broad network of industry insiders and professionals.
Team members include:
Aliyah Abdullah ’22, an economics and finance major with a risk management and insurance minor
Semra Boluk ’22, an accounting major with a risk management and insurance minor
Nick Bosio ’21, a risk management and insurance major and management minor
Yoanny Brito ’21, a management major and risk management and insurance minor
Of note, Bosio and Brito were also recently named Anita Benedetti scholars by RIMS!
“The Spencer-RIMS Challenge is like the NCAA tournament for Risk Management and Insurance students,” explains Professor Ken Goldstein, a Clinical Instructor of Risk Management and Insurance at Barney, and the team’s advisor. “It affords real-time, practical experience for those looking to enter the industry from a career perspective. Aliyah, Semra, Nick, and Yoanny worked hard and smart during the briefing round of the competition. They are honored for the opportunity to compete in the next stage of the Challenge as a part of RIMS Live. We are exceptionally proud of them, they are Barney Risk Management and Insurance ambassadors!”
