First stop, ENHP; next stop, the White House.

Bharati Shah, fondly known as Bobbie, serves as a behavioral health clinician and will graduate in 2024 with a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership for Social Justice from UHart.

Since childhood, Bobbie harbored a dream—to pursue higher education, a path untrodden by her predecessors. This determination led her to the College of Education, Nursing and Health Professions (ENHP), where she’s immersed herself in the field of educational leadership, aspiring to merge mental health and education for the betterment of higher education.

Post-graduation, Bobbie envisions delving into research and policy (R&D), with her sights set on collaborating with policymakers in the White House. Her goal is to become a change agent, advocating for adaptable policies that cater to the diverse needs of students.

UHart played a pivotal role in shaping Bobbie's trajectory. The educational leadership program not only honed her research skills, but also provided her with a unique perspective on problem solving. Writing her dissertation became a journey of self-discovery, allowing her to view issues through a different lens.

Bobbie's UHart experience extends beyond the classroom. As part of the Dean's Committee, she built connections with faculty and fellow students, particularly with Cohort 29, leaving an indelible mark on her academic journey.

One of Bobbie's fondest memories is the time spent at the UHart Library, utilizing the giant screen to work on her papers and dissertation. This space became a sanctuary for creativity and focus, contributing to her overall positive experience at UHart.

Working closely with faculty advisors like Dr. Karla Loya and Dr. Kayon Morgan, Bobbie found unwavering support in her pursuit of academic excellence. Their guidance played a crucial role in her success, especially in defending her dissertation proposal.

Bobbie's advice to incoming students reflects her wisdom gained through her journey: "Follow your dreams; where there's a will, there's a way. Be a little stubborn in a good way. Communicate with your professors; they are here to help you achieve your goals. Be healthy and, if needed, seek confidential counseling sessions at the Counseling Center to improve your academic success."
