Juliana Rosas ’27 is a junior in the early childhood education program in the College of Education, Nursing and Health Professions (ENHP) at the University of Hartford. Juliana has always had a natural love for children, but it was during her junior year of high school that she truly discovered her passion for education.
“I was part of an honors course where we helped run a daycare within our school,” she explains. “I fell in love with lesson planning and building meaningful relationships with both the children and their parents.”
At UHart, Juliana has found a community that mirrors her enthusiasm and supports her growth every step of the way.
“What I enjoy most about being a student at the University of Hartford is the strong sense of community and the genuine care shown by both staff and students,” she says. “The professors are passionate about what they teach and truly push us to succeed in our field.”
Juliana is actively involved on campus as an honors ambassador and a former member of Delight Ministries. One of her favorite memories was the group’s fall retreat in Vermont, where she built lasting friendships and deepened her sense of spiritual and personal growth.

From her very first year, UHart has provided Juliana with valuable fieldwork experiences each semester, giving her the opportunity to work directly in classrooms and gain real-world skills. She’s currently completing her field placement at Wintonbury Early Childhood Magnet School, where she assists with classroom activities, lunchtime supervision, and station monitoring.
“Each semester, I learn something new from my cooperating teacher,” she shares. “I’ve gained mentors who share valuable tips and lessons that help me grow as a future teacher.”
In addition to her studies, Juliana works as an assistant manager at Bagelman in her hometown of Danbury, Connecticut, where she’s developed strong leadership and organizational skills—qualities that will serve her well in the classroom.
She also credits associate professor of education, Jillian Cavanna, PhD, for being a constant source of inspiration and guidance.
“Professor Cavanna has been incredibly supportive and has pushed me to grow,” Juliana says. “Serving as her preceptor for Math for Elementary I helped me strengthen my leadership skills and deepen my understanding of teaching.”
Looking ahead, Juliana plans to begin her teaching career immediately after graduation, with the goal of becoming a Pre-K teacher in her local school district.
“The Early Childhood Education program has given me hands-on experience and the confidence to enter the classroom ready to make a difference,” she says. “UHart has truly prepared me—both professionally and personally—to follow my passion for teaching.”
When she’s not in class or at work, Juliana enjoys traveling and has already explored several states across the country. Her next destination? California, this November.
