Enrolled Program: MBA

Current role: Patient Care Coordinator at a Private Radiology Company in Connecticut

The University of Hartford’s Barney School of Business is recognized for its career-friendly programs and innovative curriculum, which has given many aspiring individuals an opportunity to reinvent themselves and their career goals. One such individual is Philip Dipinto’ 22, a student in the MBA program. Philip is a coordinator at a private radiology company in Connecticut with 15 years of experience in health care. He majored in anthropology and political science at Central Connecticut State University. Philip is an inquisitive person and an avid reader. His quest for knowledge and self-introspection paved his way to the Barney School of Business. According to Philip, the pandemic in a way allowed him to reflect on how short life is and helped him realize his goals. A strong curriculum and amazing internship opportunities, as well as its reputation as an AACSB-accredited institution, were significant factors for Philip in choosing the Barney School’s program. “One of the things that I like the most about this MBA program is its flexibility,” Philip explains. “I am employed full time, so it is important that I am able to complete these courses part time and have the opportunity to take them online.”

Philip shares how thrilled and excited he was when notified about his admission into the program and describes how easy the whole process was. “Upon admittance, Laura D’ Angelo-Gohn (director of graduate programs) made everything a seamless process,” Philip says. “She was knowledgeable, answered any questions that I had, and took care of everything so that my first semester got off to a good start.” Philip believes that, though he is still early in the program, he has already learned skills in statistics, teamwork building, and management foundations/styles. “I had Dr. James Fairfield-Sonn (Professor of Management) as my instructor for the MGT 605 course,” he recalls. “His choice of textbook and assigned readings, including the ones through Harvard Business School Press, were fantastic. His recorded videos were helpful, and his comments on my discussion board posts were esteem boosting and kind.” Moving forward, Philip intends to implement these skills and others that he will be learning in future courses, successfully applying them in his current employment capacity and future career opportunities.

I highly recommend enrolling in the Barney School of Business’s MBA program if you are a full-time working professional looking for the flexibility of completing courses at your own pace, having the opportunity to learn online, and studying at a top-notch school with AACSB accreditation.
