A Hartt School dance alumna, Ane Arrieta ’20, recently debuted with the Martha Graham Dance Company at the exclusive Jacob's Pillow dance festival in Becket, Massachusetts. Arrieta performed a solo in Graham's iconic work, Cave of the Heart

“Years and years of hard work and dedication prepared me for this dream-come-true moment,” says Arrieta, who graduated in 2020. “My four years at The Hartt School were pivotal in getting me to this point. The love and mentorship I received from my teachers and from all the tools and training from the program helped launch me directly into my professional career.”

The late Martha Graham choreographed more than 180 ballets over the course of her career and created a unique dance technique that has revolutionized the art form worldwide.

Jacob’s Pillow, where Arrieta made her Graham debut, has been called a “hub and mecca of dancing” by Time Magazine, and “one of America’s most precious cultural assets” by ballet legend Mikhail Baryshnikov.  The festival runs for nine weeks during the summer months and is held in the Berkshires.

The Hartt School is proud of the role it plays in helping gifted alumni engage audiences at some of the world’s most esteemed performance venues.
