Ayelet Brinn's Book Named Finalist

Congratulations to Ayelet Brinn, assistant professor of Judaic Studies & History, whose book was recently named a finalist for the 73rd National Jewish Book Awards in the category of Women’s Studies. Inau­gu­rat­ed in 1950, the Nation­al Jew­ish Book Awards is the longest-run­ning North Amer­i­can awards pro­gram of its kind and is rec­og­nized as the most pres­ti­gious. The Awards are intend­ed to rec­og­nize authors, and encour­age read­ing, of out­stand­ing Eng­lish-lan­guage books of Jew­ish interest.

Brinn received the award for her book, A Revolution in Type: Gender and the Making of the American Yiddish Press was published in November of 2023 by New York University Press. It explores complex and often unexpected ways that women and ideas about women shaped widely read Jewish newspapers.
