Last Chance to Nominate for Open Staff Council Positions

The nomination period for open Staff Council positions officially closed on Friday, March 22. However, due to the technical issues that were experienced at the beginning of the nomination period, the Nominations Committee has decided to accept further nominations until Wednesday, March 27. If you tried to nominate someone within the first few days of the nomination period, it would be a good idea to re-submit your choice.

If you have a nomination you would still like to be able to submit, just email John Strand (strand@hartford.edu) with your name and department, and the name and department of the person you'd like to nominate.

AVAILABLE POSITIONS:

Benefits Task Force (2 positions)

Delegates represent staff concerns in discussions of employee benefits. Recommendations from BTF must go through the President for approval. Meetings take place monthly. Delegates also report back to Staff Council on topics discussed at BTF meetings. An understanding of benefits and/or insurance is helpful.

DEI Task Force

The delegate reports back to Staff Council on DEI Task Force initiatives.

Faculty Senate

Faculty Senate meets twice monthly during the academic year. The staff delegate will attend both meetings—the public one and the private one. The staff delegate provides a voice for staff in these meetings when needed, but they should generally "speak when spoken to" and maintain confidentiality. The delegate also reports back to Staff Council on non-confidential topics discussed in Faculty Senate meetings.

Resource Planning and Priorities Committee (2 positions)

Delegates represent staff concerns as plans are made for upcoming university budgets and projects. Meetings take place four times per year. Delegates also report back to Staff Council on topics discussed at RPPC meetings. An understanding of finances is helpful in this position.

The voting ballot will be shared on Friday, March 29, and will remain open until April 5. The new officers will be announced at the Staff Council General Meeting on April 10.
