2024-25 Inclusive Excellence DEIJB Faculty Fellow

The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Community Engagement in partnership with the Office of the Provost, is pleased to announce the 2024-2025 Inclusive Excellence DEIJB Faculty Fellow, Xin Ye, Associate Professor of Physical Therapy, in the College of Education, Nursing and Health Professions.

UHart’s Inclusive Excellence (DEIJB) Faculty Fellows are provided with an opportunity to work closely with the Assistant Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Community Engagement and the Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs and Research to support strategic initiatives committed to advancing diversity,  equity, inclusion, social Justice, and belonging (DEIJB). Dr. Ye will work on the following efforts:

  • Develop initiatives dedicated to advancing equity and Inclusive Excellence at the University of Hartford.
  • Focus specifically on initiatives to support the recruitment and retention of faculty of color.
  • Assist in facilitating university-wide initiatives and activities that advances a culture of equity and Inclusive Excellence.
  • Work with the co-chairs of the President's Steering Committee to fully execute the charge of the committee to cultivate and enrich the UHART community as a place of inclusion and belonging. 
  • Actively participate in national and or international diversity and inclusion organizations and networks to learn 'best practices' that will inform campus equity and inclusive excellence initiatives.

Xin Ye was born in China. He earned his PhD in Exercise Physiology from the University of Oklahoma in 2016. After serving as a tenure-track faculty of Exercise Science at the University of Mississippi, he joined UHart Fall 2020. Dr. Ye’s research interests include using noninvasive techniques to examine human neuromuscular functions and adaptations under different exercise and therapeutic interventions. His research projects have been funded internally and externally such as NASA Space Grant Consortium through multiple states. He has published more than 70 peer-reviewed journal articles, presented more than 60 times in national and international conferences. He is also an academic/section editor of several scientific journals such as PLOS One, Frontiers in Physiology. He currently serves as an ENHP honors coordinator, a review member for the university IRB, and a member of the University STEM Advisory Board.
