The Barney School of Business welcomed high school students in Junior Achievement to campus on Thursday, April 18, for a “Be Entrepreneurial” Innovation Event. Students presented their projects and the 1st and 2nd place winners were awarded a $1,000 scholarship that they will receive all four years of their college experience if they choose to attend the Barney School of Business.

The judges were Interim Dean Carmen Cotei, Lecturer of Management and Organizational Behavior Chavon Campbell, and Barney Leadership Council (BLC) members Lilly Montenegro and Dylian Erwin. Chavon began with a welcome message about the importance of team collaboration through the lens of DEIJ, saying our differences make us stronger as a team to produce innovative solutions! Many other BLC members provided mentorship to students in advance of the event.

The next day, Friday, April 19, 35 Barney students and 35 UHart student athletes headed over to Noah Webster Micro Society Magnet School in Hartford, CT, where they taught Junior Achievement curriculum to kindergarteners through sixth graders.
