HAS Post Bac Exhibit "Acts of Preservation" Opening Reception

flyers

Before you sign off for the year, please join us in celebrating the achievements of the HAS Ceramics Post Bacs in their exit exhibition, “Acts of Preservation,” which will open in the Hartford Art School Joseloff Gallery on Friday, May 16, with a reception from 5 p.m.–8 p.m. Remarks will be at 6 p.m.

This exhibit will feature a dynamic range of works in clay from eight artists addressing issues of culture, identity, mythology, the environment and craft history. Approaches span abstract expressionism, narrative figuration, brutalist architecture, surrealism, Art Deco, biomorphism and the Baroque. It will surely challenge your notions of what ceramic art can be!

We are also excited to announce the career achievements of our Post Bac students. Francesco Lanzante was just hired to teach ceramics at Santa Fe Prep Jr/High School (New Mexico) starting next fall; Kenni Zipf was accepted to graduate school at the University of Wisconsin, Madison; Miles Younkin was accepted to graduate school at the University of Tennessee; Sabrina Skinner will be the next Artist in Residence at Wesleyan Potters (Middletown, Conn.); Dani Lewis will be a Resident Artist at the Morean Center for Clay in Florida; and Abby Carpenter will be returning to HAS next year for another year in our program.

Meet the artists and congratulate them! The show will be open through May 24.
