The Hartt Recording Studio and University Archives have been awarded a Recordings at Risk grant from the Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR). The University was one of 21 institutions nationwide selected to receive a Recordings at Risk grant from CLIR during this cycle.
The grant will support the digitization of over 400 tapes from the Hartt Recording Studio, preserving their integrity for future use and study. The Archives will also use the grant funds to hire a part-time staff member to assist in making these recordings discoverable and available online. The selected recordings will feature the performances of Hartt faculty, artists-in-residence, and notable guest artists from the years 1959–1999.
This project is part of an ongoing effort to preserve the recordings of the Hartt Recording Studio. To listen to existing digital studio recordings, visit the collection’s finding aid or browse the digital collection in the CTDA (please note, not all recordings are accessible off campus).
