On Aug. 29, all Barney first-year students wrapped up their first week of Hawks Take Flight programming, which are Friday morning workshops led by professors, alumni, and guest speakers from external organizations. The week concluded with the second annual Opening Bell event in the 1877 Club.
This week’s sessions focused on “Dress for Success” and an introduction to students’ first-year faculty mentors. Following the workshops, students, faculty, and staff gathered for the Opening Bell Ceremony, hosted by the Barney Leadership Council (BLC). Director of Career Ready Programs David Stec, Dean Aarti Ivanic, Provost Katherine Black, and BLC President Carly MacDougald welcomed students and rang the bell, symbolizing the official start of the Class of 2028’s journey at Barney. The event closed with networking and refreshments in the lobby.
