We are proud to announce that Isabella Grossi, a junior Biology major and undergraduate research student in Professor Gengyun Le-Chan’s laboratory, has been selected as one of only six recipients nationwide of the 2025 Local Undergraduate Research Awards in Physiology (LURAP) from the American Physiological Society (APS).

The LURAP program is a highly competitive award that recognizes outstanding undergraduate research in physiology across the country. Established by APS to foster interest in physiological research and mentorship, the award encourages undergraduates to continue in the field while building connections with APS members at their home institutions.

As part of the award, Isabella will receive:

  • A one-year APS undergraduate membership

  • An official award certificate presented at a later date

Her research project was selected for its potential to make a significant contribution to undergraduate research and student-engaged inquiry. Isabella will also have the honor of presenting her findings at the APS Physiology Summit in April 2026.

Professor Gengyun Le-Chan, Isabella’s faculty mentor in the Biology Department, shared her pride in Isabella's achievements:

"Isabella’s curiosity, initiative, and enthusiasm have set her apart. Supporting her growth as a young researcher has been a true privilege, and I am excited to see the impact of her future work."

Please join us in congratulating Isabella on this outstanding national recognition and celebrating her accomplishments as a young scholar in physiology!
