Summer Hours to Begin May 22

The University of Hartford is committed to investing in our people as a core strategic objective for our community. Becoming a better people organization will continue to position UHart for a strong and sustainable future. We value your contributions, energy, and time.

With this in mind, we are instituting summer Friday hours on campus again this summer, with an earlier start time. Beginning Friday, May 22, and continuing through Friday, August 7, offices may close on Fridays at 1 p.m. Use this time to reflect, recharge, and rest—or spend a little more time doing something you love. Summer hours are intended as an intentional investment in the physical and mental well-being of our faculty and staff.

We recognize our business goals and student support needs and understand that certain buildings, departments, or offices may need to remain open. In those instances, employees may work with their supervisors to alternate hours as needed. However, we ask each of you to be thoughtful in observing this time, especially those of you in supervisory roles. Set a strong example by holding those emails until Monday.

Non-exempt staff should record summer Friday hours as "University Closing Base" on timesheets. A reminder that the University will be closed in observance of the following upcoming holidays: Memorial Day (May 25), Juneteenth (June 19), and Independence Day (observed July 3). As always, you may extend these holidays by utilizing and documenting personal or vacation time, and we encourage you to do so.

Thank you to all who attended our appreciation lunch last week. And thank you for your engagement as we move toward the end of the semester and Commencement celebrations together.
