Professors Yingcui Li and Sundeep Muppidi and nine students are visiting China as part of a May Term course. The group is visiting Beijing and Hebei Geo University in Shijiazhuang, a city of China's Hebei Province
Following a 14-hour direct flight from JFK to Beijing, these intrepid travelers are spending the first few days visiting Beijing Olympic Park, the Temple of Heaven, the Summer Palace, the Forbidden City, and the Great Wall. The group will then travel—by bullet train—to HGU, where they will participate in cultural and academic activities with students and faculty, as well as visit religious and historical sites, and enjoy the local cuisine.
This all-expenses-paid trip falls under a recent initiative to invite 50,000 American students to China over a five-year period. The first group of students from UHart visited in December 2024.
