The University of Hartford community mourns the loss of Joan Ellis, who passed away peacefully on August 16, surrounded by her family.
Joan dedicated over two decades of her career to UHart, working on campus from 1981 to 2004. She began as secretary of enrollment services in the Office of the Registrar and later served as an administrative secretary. Throughout her years at UHart, Joan was known for the kindness she extended to everyone.
"I had the privilege of working with Joan many years ago, and I remember her strong work ethic and professionalism," recalls Judy LeDoux, currently a senior business analyst in ITS. "She was an important part of the Registrar's Office. In addition to handling administrative tasks, she greeted faculty, staff, and students with respect and kindness. Her commitment to her work was evident in everything she did. It was a pleasure to work with Joan, and I will remember her fondly."
According to her obituary, Joan cherished the lifelong friendships she formed during her years on campus.
The University of Hartford extends its deepest sympathy to Joan's family and friends.
