This Wednesday, Oct 14, we will welcome Hartt Composition’s own Dr. Kyle Grimm to Composers' Seminar.
"Kyle Grimm is a composer and double bassist whose music has been described as "feisty technicolor" (Roger Zahab). His compositions strive to strike a balance between the gritty and the beautiful through juxtaposition, layering, and synthesis, often employing electronics alongside acoustic elements. forever eve, an album of new works for double bass and electronics has been described as "...challenging, hypnotic and frequently mind-bending—but underneath all the sonic experimentation lies something remarkably human" (The JW Vibe); and the titular track as "...a self-contained sonic world where beauty and tension coexist." Kyle's music can be heard across the country in festivals such as SEAMUS, Electronic Music Midwest, CAMPground, and New Music on the Point. When not composing, he enjoys a good happy hour, making obscure The Simpsons references, and spoiling his two cats."
