flyer

Experience the Fall Hartt Dances faculty dance concert, held Nov. 12–14. The performances brings three world premieres into conversation with landmark works of modern dance and Romantic ballet.

Spanning more than 180 years of dance history, the program celebrates both the vitality of new choreography and the enduring resonance of the past. The evening features the world premieres of Gravity’s Embrace by Hartt School alumna, Felicia Isotti, Time Passages by faculty member, Debra Collins Ryder, and The Burden of Truth, The Silence of Disbelief by Visiting Professor, Catherine Meredith. These new works offer audiences the opportunity to encounter three distinct choreographic voices and experience new contributions to the evolving art of dance.

José Limón’s The Wingèd, staged by Nina Watt, explores the movements and rhythms of birds through expressive ensemble choreography. First performed in 1966 at the American Dance Festival at Connecticut College in New London, this ensemble work connects the program to a significant modern dance legacy with deep Connecticut roots. Completing the program is La Vivandière, staged by Hilda Morales. Created by Arthur Saint-Léon and Fanny Cerrito, the ballet was first presented in London in 1844. Celebrated for its lively dancing and brilliant pas de six, the ballet offers a glimpse into the artistry and style of the Romantic era.

Together, these five works invite audiences to discover and remember that dance is a living art. Hartt Dances will be held in Millard Auditorium on Nov. 12–14 at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee on Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. Tickets can be reserved via the Box Office or by calling 860.768.4228.
