Athletics at UHart

A New Vision for Intercollegiate Athletics

As a Division III student-athlete, you won’t have to choose between the game you love and the new opportunities that await you at UHart!

Our athletics program has completed its multiyear transition to NCAA Division III athletics. As of September 2025, the University of Hartford is a full Division III member and eligible for all conference and postseason championships as a member of the Conference of New England.

Our belief in the DIII philosophy is at the heart of the shift. Division III provides an exceptional athletics experience while placing the highest priority on the overall quality of students’ educational experience—a mission we share at UHart.

The Division III Experience

Athletics is a vital part of the University’s dynamic and inclusive community. The competition is fierce and our dedicated student-athletes are committed to their sport and success in the classroom.

UHart student-athletes excel in competition and strive for championships, while also being honors students, active in clubs, running for student government, landing a dream internship—even studying abroad! The result? They graduate prepared to be forward thinkers, passionate leaders, and active members in their communities.

Pursue your passions and experience the best of a UHart education.

Grant Family Track and Field

In fall 2024, an exciting addition was added to the campus landscape: the Grant Family Track and Field opened, named in recognition of UHart alumnus and Board of Regents member Kevin Grant '82, M '86, thanks to his generous leadership gift to the University.

The complex features a 400-meter, eight-lane “full pour” track surrounding a new field for intramural and club sport use, as well as an adjacent throwing area. It was made possible through gifts from corporate partners including Stanley Black & Decker, CVS/Aetna, and Robinson & Cole LLP., along with support from alumni and friends of the University.

Growing Athletics Programs

UHart is a member of the Conference of New England, composed of 10 full member and two associate member institutions throughout the New England region. Its membership aims to provide student-athletes with a positive experience in their pursuit of excellence through high academic standards, quality competition, and a meaningful student life.

The Hawks compete in 20 intercollegiate sports following the recent additions of men's tennis, women's tennis, and field hockey.
