Athletics at UHart
A New Vision for Intercollegiate Athletics
Want to learn more about UHart's NCAA approval to transition to Division III?
As a Division III student-athlete, you won’t have to choose between the game you love and the new opportunities that await you at UHart!
Our athletics program is in the midst of a three year transition from Division I to Division III. Upon submitting our application for NCAA reclassification in February 2022, the University of Hartford received approval to transition our athletics program to Division III. UHart will formally move forward in the NCAA reclassification process in preparation for active membership no later than September 1, 2025.
Our belief in the DIII philosophy is at the heart of the shift. DIII schools provide an exceptional athletics experience while placing the highest priority on the overall quality of students’ educational experience—a mission we share at UHart.
The Division III Experience
Athletics is a vital part of the University’s dynamic and inclusive community. The competition is fierce and our dedicated student-athletes are committed to their sport and success in the classroom. This is not going to change, and we don’t want it to.
The difference is that as a DIII student-athlete, your University involvement could be greater! Be part of a team, excel in competition, and strive for a championship, while also having the chance to join clubs, run for student government, land a dream internship, even study abroad.
Pursue your passions and experience the best of a UHart education.
Investing In Our Future: Track and Field Expected 2023
As part of a larger strategic action plan that includes multiple investments in campus life, plans for a newly constructed track and field are underway. The outdoor facility is expected to cost approximately $7.5 million and open in 2023. This facility will serve not only our student-athletes and programs, but provide access for club sports, recreation activities, and a safe walking/running location for the entire campus community.
We are confident that this new resource will allow our successful track & field and cross country athletics programs continue to attract new and high-achieving students.
UHart is home to 17 NCAA men's and women's teams that all hold true to four core values: excellence, toughness, integrity, and unity. Learn more about each of our teams and meet our coaches.
