Athletics at UHart

A New Vision for Intercollegiate Athletics

As a Division III student-athlete, you won’t have to choose between the game you love and the new opportunities that await you at UHart!

Our athletics program is in the final stages of a transition from Division I to Division III. The NCAA approved the transition of UHart's athletics program to Division III in March 2022 and the University announced its acceptance into the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) as its new athletics conference, beginning in the 2023–24 academic year.

Our belief in the DIII philosophy is at the heart of the shift. Division III provides an exceptional athletics experience while placing the highest priority on the overall quality of students’ educational experience—a mission we share at UHart.

The Division III Experience

Athletics is a vital part of the University’s dynamic and inclusive community. The competition is fierce and our dedicated student-athletes are committed to their sport and success in the classroom.

UHart student-athletes excel in competition and strive for championships, while also being honors students, active in clubs, running for student government, landing a dream internship—even studying abroad! The result? They graduate prepared to be forward thinkers, passionate leaders, and active members in their communities.

Pursue your passions and experience the best of a UHart education.

Investing In Our Future

New Track and Field

As part of a larger strategic action plan that includes multiple investments in campus life, plans for a newly constructed track and field were recently revealed. The outdoor facility is expected to cost approximately $7.5 million. This facility will serve not only our student-athletes and programs, but provide access for club sports, recreation activities, and a safe walking/running location for the entire campus community.

We are confident that this new resource will allow our successful track & field and cross country athletics programs continue to attract new and high-achieving students.

Growing Athletics Programs

The University of Hartford will join the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) beginning in the 2023–24 academic year. Currently fielding 17 NCAA sports, the University plans to add tennis, field hockey, and ice hockey in coming years.
