1970–1979

Signal Partners, a nationwide search firm serving private equity sponsors and portfolio companies, announced that Pat Muise (Hartt) of Marina Del Ray, Calif., has joined the firm as a Partner. She has 20 years of retained executive search experience specializing in the CPG, direct-to-consumer, wholesale, and retail sectors.

David L. Katz, composer and conductor
1977

Professional conductor, composer, playwright, actor, arts advocate, and educator David L. Katz (Hartt), (AD '84 Hartt) (M '89 Hartt) of Danbury, Conn., was selected as The Hartt School Alumni Award winner in 2019. In part, he was recognized for creating and sustaining The American Prize national nonprofit competitions in the performing arts.

1980–1989

1980

Patrick Vaccariello (Hartt) of New York, N.Y., has signed on to be the music director for a new production of The Music Man, which begins previews in September 2020. The play marks the return of Hugh Jackman to Broadway. Vaccariello is a Broadway veteran, having produced musical direction for On Your Feet, the Tony Awards, and Cabaret, among others.

1982

Steve Brown (A'80 Ward), (Ward) of Bloomfield, Conn., celebrated 37 years of employment with the Hewlett-Packard Enterprise in Jun 2019.

 

Bob McCue, assistant chief of police, retires

After 39 years on the West Hartford, Conn., police force, Assistant Chief Bob McCue (A&S), (M'94 Barney) of West Hartford, Conn., has retired. When he was hired, he was the department's first third-generation officer. Bob's career was detailed in a feature article on we-ha.com.

1983

PlateSmart CEO John Chigos (A&S), (M’85 Barney) of West Clearwater, Fla., authored an article for americansecurity.com  titled “A Call to Action for the Automated License Plate Recognition Industry.” In the article, he stressed the importance of industry experts coming together to discuss ALPR best practices.

1984

LBB Specialties announced that Hank DeWolf (Barney) of Barrington, R.I., has been appointed to the company’s Advisory Board. He has significant experience in the specialty chemical and ingredient distribution sector and made his mark building the DeWolf Companies into a recognized market leader through organic growth and acquisition.

1985

The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod has chosen visual artist Cherie Mittenhal (HAS) of Provincetown, Mass., as one of its 2019 Fellows. Since 2002, she has served as the executive artistic director for the Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill. Over the past 14 years, she has worked primarily in wax or encaustic paint.

The Hartford has appointed Jonathan Bennett (M Barney) of Suffield, Conn., to head Group Benefits. He will head a business unit that is first in group disability and fourth in group life. Bennett has served as CFO and head of strategy for both Property & Casualty and Group Benefits the past seven years.  

1990–1999

Gregory White, finance director of Ellington, Connecticut
1992

Long-time resident Gregory White (M Barney) of Ellington, Conn., was appointed the town’s new finance director/treasurer. Formerly the executive vice president, CFO, and treasurer at Farmington Bank, he brings 32 years of experience to the position.

1993

An article on former UHart basketball All-American Vin Baker (A&S) of Old Saybrook, Conn., appeared in the Middletown Press in July 2019. The article celebrated his now more than eight years of sobriety and detailed his efforts to help others through their journey with addiction. Baker is an assistant coach with the Milwaukee Bucks.  

1994

The Connecticut Society of Public Accountants appointed Mike Delaney (M Barney) of Burlington, Conn., to its Advisory Council as a member-at-large. He is principal auditor with the Connecticut Auditors of Public Accounts in Hartford. Ralph Anderson (M’06 Barney) of Prospect, Conn., and Cynthia Calderon (M’16 Barney) of Middletown, Conn., were also appointed to the Advisory Council. Anderson chairs the Federal Taxation Committee and is a tax manager with the firm of Beers, Hamerman, Cohen & Burger. Calderon serves as a member-at-large and is a tax associate with CohnReznick.

 

PEMCO Mutual Insurance welcomed Linda Magee (M Barney) of Issaquah, Wash., as controller. With more than 25 years of experience in the insurance industry, she has a strong background in accounting and finance management, budget and strategic planning, statutory reporting, and variance analyses.

2000–2009

Austin Goldberg (ENHP) of Brewster, N.Y., was appointed to the position of director of physical education, health, and athletics for the Peekskill City School District in New York. He has spent the past three years as the athletics director for the Tuckahoe School District. Goldberg played baseball at UHart.

2007

The web site greenmarketreport.com published an Executive Spotlight on Jeffrey Welsh (Hartt) of Encino, Calif. The Spotlight detailed his journey from an aspiring professional saxophonist to a current role on the business side of the entertainment industry. He is co-founder of Frontera Law Group and the Composite Agency.

2010–2019

Elizabeth Landry, new owner of Fuss & ONeill
2010

Fuss & ONeill, a full-service civil and environmental engineering consulting firm, announced that Elizabeth Landry (M CETA) of Vernon-Rockville, Conn. has been added as an owner. She started her career with the firm in 2005. Landry has led the MEP Group since 2015, focusing on large-scale energy and building projects.  

 

2014

The Hartford Business Journal has named Hartford Pilgrim Health Care Public Relations Specialist Julianna Cruz (Hartt), (M’19 Hartt) of Stratford, Conn., to its list of “40 Under Forty” young professionals making their mark in Greater Hartford. She joins three other alumni who were also selected to be on the list. They are Kimberly Napp (M’09 Barney) of Wallingford, Conn., a Partner at Whittlesey, Kathryn O’Neil (M’17 A&S) of Granby, Conn., a communications associate at Otis Elevator Company, and Shannon Mumley (M’17 A&S) of Hartford, Conn., an internship program administrator at Cigna.

The Needham, Mass. police department has added Patrick Keleher (A&S) of Medford, Mass. to its force. He specializes in accident reconstruction involving cars, bicycles, and pedestrians, as well as public administration. He was previously a member of the Medford, Mass., police department.  

 

Kyle Reynolds (M A&S) of Wethersfield, Conn., served as the program director and choreographer for a production of Little Shop of Horrors staged by students as part of the Andover, Hebron, Marlborough Youth Services Summer Youth Theatre in July 2019. Reynolds is director of theatre at Kingswood Oxford School in West Hartford, Conn.

 

Stephen Salvo (Barney) of North Haven, Conn., is a contributor to the sports website fanside.com. He is also a financial analyst with the NBC Sports Group.

2015

Ashley Croce (Hartt) of Peabody Mass. was an assistant director on the production A Period Piece that also featured Dominique Rose (’18 Hartt) of West Suffield, Conn., as one of its principle characters. The play was a celebration of female empowerment and was staged at Matthew Corozine Studio Theatre in New York in July and August 2019.  It was produced by The Shrill Collective of which Croce is a co-founder.

T.J. Ward playing baseball with Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers

An update of the career of former UHart baseball standout T.J. Ward (A&S) of Jersey City, N.J., appeared in the hudsonreporter.com in July. He was having an All-Star season as a third baseman playing for the Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers of the United Shore Professional League in Michigan.

Samantha Cormier (’15 Barney), (M’18 Barney) and Christopher Camasso of West Hartford, Conn., were married June 13, 2019, in Southington, Conn. The bride works in finance at The Travelers.  

BABIES

Nunamachers welcome baby boy

Rory Nunamacher (’13 Barney) and his wife, Lindsay Nunamacher (’11 ENHP), (D’14 ENHP), of West Hartford, Conn., welcomed a boy, Noah Donald Nunamacher, on July 11, 2019. Rory works in sales for Tennant Company , while Lindsay is a PT for Hartford Healthcare.
