Anika is a sculptor and media artist whose work investigates the human impulse to own and control. Through their practice, Anika critiques the cultural assumptions and legislative frameworks that legitimize private ownership of earth and sky.

Born in 1992 in Boston, Massachusetts, Anika earned their BFA from Massachusetts College of Art and Design and their MFA from The University of Texas at Austin. Their work has been presented in solo exhibitions at Flux Factory (New York City), VisArts Center (Virginia), and Co-Lab Gallery (Austin, Texas), with exhibitions reviewed by The Washington Post (2018) and Glasstire (2019).

Anika has held residencies at Stove Works (2021), NARS Foundation (2020), and the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture (2019). In recognition of their work, they received the Austin Cultural Arts Council Award in 2019 and were a finalist for the NYFA Architecture/Environmental Structures/Design Award in 2022.

Currently, Anika is teaching sculpture as the Louis D. Beaumont Artist in Residence for Washington University’s Sam Fox School of Art and Design, before joining the Hartford Art School fall 2026.
