Hundreds of local children will have their holiday wishes come true thanks to a partnership between the University of Hartford and the Boys & Girls Club of Hartford.

Members of the UHart community donated nearly 400 new toys and gift cards during this month’s “Howie’s Holiday Toy Drive.” Students and employees delivered the toys to the Asylum Hill Boys & Girls Club on Thursday, Dec. 9. The Club will in turn share these gifts with area children.

“We are so thrilled with the generosity of the University of Hartford community. It will genuinely make a difference for the Club members and their families during this holiday season,” says Sam Gray, President and CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford.

We recognize there are those who are less fortunate in the world and in our own community. It felt good to come together for a common purpose to make the holiday season brighter, especially after the couple of years we have had.

Other Ways to Give

Howie’s Holiday Toy Drive, a collaboration among the Office of Residential Life, Public Safety, and Staff Council, is just one way the UHart community is giving back this season. There is still time to contribute to the Holiday Giving Tree, sponsored by the Office of Student Engagement and Inclusion, and the Mortensen Library’s Mitten Tree.
