Mechanical engineering major Kaelaan Maynor ’20 records impressive video resume at ASME internship.

Kaelaan Maynor ’20, mechanical engineering major, worked as an Executive Intern at The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) over the summer of 2019. During his internship, he had an opportunity to meet with nearly every division within the organization, ranging from departments such as Standards and Certification to Programs and Philanthropy. Maynor was tasked proposing a solution to a particular problem or issue the group was facing for numerous projects. Maynor says the internship was such a rewarding experience given the tasks he worked on and being able to work with some of the most impressive individuals within the engineering discipline. He was even encouraged to record a video resume during his internship, which is quite impressive. Watch it here. He also wrote an engaging article on ASME E-Fests' website about why he wants to become an engineer and what he has learned so far for his career.

Being involved with ASME, has shown me how truly vast and diverse the engineering community is and as a result, I will forever be grateful for such a life-changing experience. Throughout my life, I’ve always been curious on how everything works, from the largest structures towering over us to the smallest microbes floating throughout the atmosphere. It’s this curiosity, that led me to engineering in the first place and while I certainly can’t say it was easy, after 3 full years of education I really can’t see anything else I’d rather do more.

Maynor will continue to stay busy this year as one of our highly involved students. He is a member of CETA student clubs ASME, NSBE, and the Autonomous Mobile Robotics Research Group. During his senior year, he will be highly involved with the research group in an on-going project involving the continued development of an autonomously driven golf cart and this Fall, will also have the opportunity to attend the International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition (IMECE) in Salt Lake City, UT courtesy of ASME.
