Rad Tech Graduates

Summer Evans ’25 has secured a full-time position as a CT Scan Technologist at MidState Medical Center, where she has been working while completing her radiologic technology degree at the University of Hartford. Her official role will begin following her graduation this May.

Excited for the opportunity, Evans shares, “I was able to use the professional skills and care I learned in my UHart classes to communicate why I was the best fit for the job and how I will be a great fit for the position.”

Throughout her time at UHart, Evans developed meaningful relationships with both professors and peers. One key example was her strong bond with Professor Nicole Pekrul. “Professor Pekrul was always around to be of help both with academic and life struggles. The program is not easy and as an alumni herself, she knew the struggles that we sometimes experienced and always made us laugh in class by telling us a fun fact or was always around to answer any questions or just to simply talk to,” she says.

Evans acknowledges that the radiologic technology program is both challenging and rewarding. She encourages first-year students to persevere and find their own path to success. “The professors in the program are always around to be of help and just be an ear when you need someone to talk to. The program can be intense but trust me it’s all worth it in the end,” she says.

She also encourages students to participate in UHart’s events as a way to unwind from the demands of studying. Some of her favorites include attending Spring and Fall Fest with friends.

“UHart gave me the resources I needed to be the best technologist in my field whether that was academically or professionally,” Evans reflects.
