#UHartInspires: Alumnus Composes Music to Honor COVID-19 Health-Care Workers and Victims

April 23, 2020

Alumnus Tony Susi ’85, who is also a jazz education adjunct instructor in The Hartt School, has penned two compositions inspired by the COVID-19 pandemic. "Hymn to Healthcare Heroes" is for the men and women serving on the medical front lines and "Gone but Not Forgotten" honors the victims who have lost their lives due to the virus. You can hear both on his web page.

After earning his degree in Music Education, Susi taught at the middle, high school and collegiate levels in Connecticut. Ironically, he also composed a piece, "First Responders," in November that will be released in May. It was to be premiered by Hartt's Capital Winds in May but the concert was canceled along with all other university activities. And now, first responders are being housed on campus during the pandemic.

Thank you Tony for using your musical talents to salute those who are fighting to save COVID-19 victims and to remember those who lost their fight with the virus.

"UHartInspires" is an opportunity for University faculty, staff, students, and alumni to share how they are taking care of themselves and their families or helping and supporting others during the COVID-19 pandemic.
