Submitted By: Norman Young

Jessica Abbott is leaving the University where she was a student, recieving undergraduate and graduate degrees, and where she has worked as a full time employee in Facilities since 2008. During her undergraduate years, Jessica worked as a resident facilities assitant (RFA) and later became the leader of that group honing the program to great success. She filled many other roles during her tenior including event coordination, residential custodial management, and managed many other projects and initiatives.

Jessica is a past recipient of the Facilities and the University's Outstanding Staff Member Awards along with holding a leadership position on the Staff Association (now Council) and has been a staff advisor to the Women Against Rape & Sexual Assault (WARS) group on campus. She is also very active in the facilities association APPA where she rose through the ranks to become president of the eastern region and a member of the APPA International Board.

Jessica will become the Director of Facilities for the town of Wolcott CT.  A great opportunity for her and a big loss for the University.  I know all of us in Facilities are saddened by her departure but we are also happy for her as she moves on to a new adventure.  Jessica's rise to become a talented and sought after professional is a source of pride for me personnally and for many of us who know her.

Her last day with us is Monday, Nov. 30 and we are saddened that in these COVID times we will not be able to give her a proper send off in person. But please join her Facilities colleagues in wishing her the best in what ever way you can as she takes on a new challenge.
