Dear Colleagues,

I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Elizabeth Dill as the new Director of the Harrison Libraries; she began her duties in mid-April.  Elizabeth comes to us from the Ludden Library and Learning Commons at Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne Wyoming where she was Associate Dean.  Prior to that, she was the Director of Library Services for the Dotham Campus of Troy University in Alabama, and the Campus Librarian at the Art Institute of Tucson.

Elizabeth hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Georgia, a Master of Fine Arts from the California Institute of the Arts, and a Master of Library and Information Sciences from Valdosta State University.   She is currently a doctoral candidate in Public Administration at Valdosta State.

I would like to express my appreciation to the Search Committee, chaired by T Stores and comprised of Lillian Kamal from the Barney School, Mark Snyder from the Hartford Art School, Joyce Ashuntantang of Hillyer College, Jim McDonald of the College of Arts and Sciences, Rebecca Townsend of Hillyer College, Akane Mori of the Hartt School, Jasmine Huff from the Library Staff, and Juli Dacji of the Student Government Association, for their fine work.

And my deep thanks to the irreplaceable and irrepressible Randi Ashton Pritting for her 40 years of service to the library and the university.  She’ll be a tough act to follow, but Elizabeth is up to the task.

Please join me in welcoming Elizabeth to this new role and congratulating her on her appointment.

Fred Sweitzer
