Minimum Wage Increase August 1, 2021
Connecticut law specifies that all employers mut pay their employees enough to meet the state's minimum wage requirement. The minimum wage in Connecticut is the greater of (1) a rate established by the legislature or (2) 1/2 of 1% higher than the federal minimum wage, rounded to the nearest cent.
Please be advised that Connecticut’s minimum wage, currently $12.00 per hour, will increase to $13.00 per hour effective August 1, 2021. This will affect the hourly rate paid to students, including Work Study Students and/or temporary workers.
Be advised, departmental salary budgets will not be adjusted to account for this increase. Please plan accordingly when scheduling your student/temporary workers.
HRD and Payroll are working together to adjust affected individuals below $13.00 per hour to the mandatory minimum wage rate effective August 1, 2021.
Departments will not need to submit a revised ePAF and/or Roster Form unless you wish to pay the student/temporary worker more than the mandatory minimum wage.
