Join us for a retirement send-off for Beverly Smith.

When: Thursday, Sept. 30 from 2:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m.

Where: Auerbach Hall, 3rd Floor, Room A-318

Beverly Smith joined the Barney School in the Spring of 2003 as a temp in the Management/Marketing/Entrepreneurship Department and was hired as the Dean’s Assistant later that year. After working many years at Aetna, she found many connections between the Barney School and Hartford’s insurance/finance community. Dean Mulready is the 5th full-time Dean she has served, and 11th when counting Acting and Interim Deans.

“The Barney School has been very good to me and my family, all four of us participating in and graduating from a variety of programs.  I have learned something useful from every faculty and staff member and the almost 100 student assistants whom I encountered,” she says, “and although I like my job, I am looking forward to disconnecting from the calendar and spending more time with family, friends, and creative projects.”

Barney School of Business Dean Steve Mulready said, “I have known Beverly for over 40 years as like her, I also worked at Aetna and would see her often. But I first got to work with her in 2003 when I joined the Barney Board of Visitors. She always reached out to help and provide guidance. In the past year as I assumed the role of Dean, she has been so instrumental in helping me navigate through my new responsibilities. She has been a true professional that will be truly missed.”
