Everyone drinks at college, right?

Actually no.

One out of five of college students abstain from drinking*

One out of three freshmen haven’t consumed alcohol in the last 30 days^

Who is Most at Risk?

Full-time college students are more at risk for heavy alcohol use than peers of the same age. The most at-risk students are members of fraternities and sororities, as well as student-athletes. The most recent findings indicate that females are slightly more likely to misuse alcohol than males.**

Staff and faculty can help with social norming about alcohol use and not presume that all college students consume alcohol.  Think about how conversations are framed with students about what they do outside the classroom.  Not everyone drinks!
