Healthy Hawks has prepared a few questions and answers regarding alcohol use and covid-19.

 

Q: Does drinking alcohol weaken my immune system?

A: Frequent alcohol use can weaken the immune system and may make it more likely that the body will catch a virus. Excessive use can even lead to lung infections that could complicate the recovery and treatment process for COVID-19.

 

Q: How else can alcohol use make me more likely to get sick?

A: Alcohol use can impair your judgement, leading to a potential increase in the possibility that you will get sick. Alcohol is often consumed in large social gatherings.  Parties and large gatherings have an increased likelihood for the virus to spread.
