Having Tough Conversations This Holiday Season

December 08, 2021
Submitted By: Healthy Hawks

Do you anticipate some potentially tough conversations during winter break? Healthy Hawks put together this note to help you through this:

I disagree. Should I speak up or let it go?

Don’t be afraid to voice your difference of opinion as long as you are respectful and understanding.

What should I stay away from?

Assigning blame or shame will lead to more problems. Stick to the topic and your own view rather than attacking someone else or their view.

I am offended by their position or opinion.

Try to understand where they are coming from. Knowing why they feel that way can help you sympathize with their position. Then, you can explain your beliefs.
