Submitted By: Max Strubel

The Future of the News on Wednesday, April 20, 6:30 p.m.-7:45 p.m. via Zoom.

With Putin waging war in the Ukraine and mid-term elections around the corner, we are hanging on our news channels and feeds. Educate yourself now about the future of this news in an eye-opening roundtable, presented by the University of Hartford’s Presidents’ College in partnership with the CT Mirror.

Well-known NPR radio host John Dankosky joins Elizabeth Hamilton, executive editor of the CT Mirror, and Daniela Altimari -- longtime political reporter for the Hartford Courant, and now of Route Fifty, a news agency that connects state and local leaders -- to discuss questions critical to our political moment:  why are our news sources under threat? and how can we protect ourselves and our democracy from the onslaught of fake news?

Whether you delivered the newspaper as your first real job or grew up seeing your parents disappear behind the pages of the local daily, listen in on April 20 and learn what you can do to protect the news that keeps the powers-that-be in check and us in-the-know.
